THE ADMIRAL FELL INN
Guests and employees have reported phantom sailors, unexplained footsteps and voices, a woman in white, and the sounds of a large gathering in rooms believed to be empty.
THE CASE
The Admiral Fell Inn, located in Baltimore’s historic Fell’s Point, incorporates several adjoining buildings, some dating back to the late 1700s. Over the years, the property served various waterfront purposes, including boarding accommodations for sailors, a theater, and a seamen’s YMCA. The hotel as we know it today opened in 1985 and became a member of Historic Hotels of America in 1989.
Guests and employees have reported seeing phantom sailors, hearing unexplained footsteps and voices, and encountering a mysterious figure sometimes described as a woman in white. One of the strangest stories involves Hurricane Isabel in 2003, when much of the hotel was evacuated; remaining staff reportedly heard what sounded like a large party taking place in rooms above the lobby—even though those areas were supposed to be empty.
